Ink work

Recently I have become a bit more mixed-up! Instead of being such a purist, and only using coloured pencil, I have been experimenting with mixed media. After reading SueEllen Ross' wonderful book "Paint Radiant Realism in Watercolor, Ink and Colored Pencil" I have been especially using Indian Ink. This gives a very dark base which accepts cp very well, as long as you dilute the ink slightly to take the sheen off it. I now have several pictures done with Indian Ink, including Peahen, Lily the Pink and Keswick church which can be found elsewhere on site. The pictures below are some from my workshops for improvers. I start a demonstration of how to do this type of work, and usually finish the picture off at home. Any picture with large dark areas, and a full tonal range, will lend itself to painting some ink on first, and I have a range of photos that I have taken that are suitable for this technique. Unfortunately, as I started these in my workshops, I was unable to scan them as I went along - I will try to add some step by step inkwork at a future date.
